The RIDT is proud to have been selected to be one of the sponsors of the first ever Malta Climate Action Awards, organized by the Ministry for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning. The initiative consisted of five awards to celebrate best Agent of Change, best Illuminator, best Innovator, best Facilitator and best Engager.
The best Illuminator award, sponsored by the RIDT was given to Professor Joseph Buhagiar head of the department of Biology of the University of Malta for his project SiMaSeed. The project’s main objective was the setting up of two new seedbanks, one in Gozo and the other at the Department of Biology within the University of Malta. In a ceremony held on the 27th of October 2021, Mr Wilfred Kenely, Chief Executive Officer of the RIDT presented the award to Prof. Joseph Buhagiar.
The RIDT considers climate change as one of our generation’s most serious challenges, and we strive to contribute towards the mitigation of destructive impact of climate change on our planet. Amongst other climate related projects financed by the RIDT since its setting up, Dr. Antoine Grima has benefitted from a PhD scholarship in Climate Change Law given by the RIDT thanks to a contribution by an anonymous donor.
