The opening night of Is-City – Late paintings took place on Wednesday 15 February 2023. It was a very enjoyable evening and included a jazz session by renowned pianist and composer Dominic Galea, who was accompanied by Anthony Saliba on Bass and Joseph Camilleri on Drums. The trio performed works by the late Charles ‘City’ Gatt and other compositions.
The exhibition features the late works of Charles ‘City’ Gatt, on the first year of his passing. Proceeds from sales of some of the paintings are in aid of RIDT and will go towards the setting up of the Charles ‘City’ Gatt award in Jazz & Improvisation at the University of Malta.
The exhibition is curated by Austin Camilleri and will remain open till Sunday 26 February 2023 at 134, Old Bakery Street, Valletta, Monday to Friday 10:00 to 19:00 and Saturday & Sunday 10:00 to 13:00.
This project is the fruit of collaboration between RIDT, Charles’ daughters and Noċemuskata.
