Tourism & Place: Understanding the Visitor Experience debates the tourism experience and reflects on what makes for an interesting and enjoyable experience. It proposes the ‘meaningful place’ model that brings together two vital elements; place and meaning. The model explores the interrelationships between the two and considers how these impinge on the tourist experience. To illustrate the theory, the book includes short case studies of 32 tourism sites from across Europe, each of which is explained and illustrated with text and images.
