Dr Aaron Micallef

Dr Aaron Micallef

Senior Lecturer, Geosciences

Aaron is a marine geologist investigating global continental margins. He uses seafloor surveying and quantitative techniques to solve problems related to submarine landslides, submarine canyons, fluid flow processes, carbonate escarpments and continental shelf dynamics. His areas of study include the Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Aaron has a MSc from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Southampton. He is the recipient of two Marie Curie fellowships and an ERC Starting Grant.

Research interest: Marine geomorphometry, Submarine mass movements, Submarine canyons and gullies, Seafloor mapping and classification, Submerged landscapes, Fluid flow processes.
